One more logo....I Know

Ok so I made one more, and I think this is my favorite. It's lighter and more fun I think. I also like the colors better too they are brighter. I still incorporated the house image from the previous logo. It's more simple. I also included the star aspect of the previous house logo. The font for the "TMoCA" is more playful too and looks more like a children's museum.

More Logo Graphic Ideas

So I have been really indecisive and been making more logos because I am not yet completely satisfied with what I have so far. So here they are!!

I have made cards with stripes of prismacolors in the background and I wanted to take that idea and try it in the form of some text as the logo, so that is where these came from!

I like these and def like the colors better than some of the other color schemes I originally had. I still think they need to incorporate some kind of picture or graphic other than the colored text. I am still working on it, but here is the progress of it.

Side Note

So I have been working on a logo identity for myself and I thought I would share, even though this is a little off track from my senior project.

I wanted something modern but fun and a little artsy. I am not a straight line type of person, I definitely lean more towards art and free form shapes and layouts.

This is a work in progress, but I think I have gotten close. I love gray, because my favorite color changes all the time, but I do love to scribble and sketch so this is a hint of that.

Other Proposed Logos

I decided to explore other logo ideas and identities. I did further research on other logos that companies similar to my project used. I also did some research on color theories and played with different color combinations. I went through several fonts and tried to find some playful ones that would be unique and give a fun brand image, I also found some modern ones for a sub title. I wanted to use bright colors, but that could still be modern and not too elementary.
Here are some other logo ideas I created and played with, along with different color ideas and combinations.

Personally, I still like my original logo and my original color choices. I still want to maybe explore other fonts with the original logo, and maybe a few other color combinations, BUT I think I am on the right track with that one. It will eventually get there, I like the picturesqueness of it. I think the other two are too business like and do not say ' Children's Museum'.

Original Logo Identity

While making my project proposal, I thought about a logo and book layout. I did research on other logos of children's museums and found a few I liked. I knew I wanted something modern but still playful that would be a good representation for a children's museum.

I was really inspired by the logo for the Louisiana Children's Museum. I also wanted to incorporate the fact that the building I am using is temporary and uses shipping containers. So, I wanted to use some kind of square or box like image. I also liked the picturesque quality that most of the museum logos I found included.

The original logo that I decided on was an abstract shape of a house with a building and sky image within the black outline of the house form. I then chose a basic font that had a little character to it and typed the acronym   'TMOCA' and then in times new roman put 'TravelingMuseumofChildren'sArt' underneath with no spacing.

Adjacencies & Block Diagrams

Once I found my building and created a program and list of space needed. I explored adjacencies and created lists and matrices that would explain and show what my plans were for my proposed project.
Here I show a space adjacency matrix and a simple block diagram of the basic floor plan layout.

Building Model

I found some pictures of a building model while doing more research on the construction of it online. These pictures really help with seeing the construction, and how the building is broken up into sections.

Building Research 2

While doing further research, I found a floor plan of the current building structure located on a Santa Monica beach lot. It is a really simple floor plan, and it is one that I think has great potential for my proposed project. I have also thought about making my own configurations of the shipping containers and creating an alternative floor plan.

Building Research

Once I found my building that I wanted to use, I did further research on the construction and other buildings by the same architect.
Ban did a series of buildings using paper tubes as the main frame. His buildings are a modern marvel in my opinion, they are both creative and aesthetically pleasing.

Original Idea

My original Idea for my senior project was to do a children's museum within an underprivileged neighborhood. I wanted it to be a museum of artwork and a place that the children within this neighborhood could come and take classes and have an opportunity to experience creating artwork.

After doing further research, I discovered an interesting temporary building that was used as a museum for a single exhibit. I really enjoyed the building and the way it was moved and rebuilt in different places.  The building was designed by Shigueru Ban, and also designed by Gensler. It was originally setup on a pier on the Hudson River in New York, later it was taken apart and shipped to California and was rebuilt on a Santa Monica Beach lot. It's a beautiful modern piece of architecture that uses paper columns and shipping containers.

From here I developed a program and ideas for designing a similar building with interiors to accommodate my idea of a children's museum and art center.
